ABOUT LISA: The Person & the CounsellorOriginally from South Coast NSW & currently residing in Sydney, Australia, I am a fellow traveller on the journey through life!
I am a second-generation Australian of an immigrant family of Mediterranean and Slavic ancestry. I understand the stressors that such circumstances can bring, as well as the enriching benefits of a culturally diverse way of life. I am curious & explorative by nature, which has led to a diverse array of experiences in life & career. The commonality between them is an interest in understanding human beings, our societies & cultures, and what it means to be human. I have a background and continuing interest in history, anthropology, and the arts, and am interested in the long historical use of the healing arts and utilising this wisdom in our modern world. I have a holistic approach to my own wellbeing - mind, body, and soul. Nature is one of my greatest healers and mentors. I also enjoy embodiment and mindfulness practices like freeform, meditative movement & dance, which grounds me in the present and supports me in exploring creativity. Being a counsellor enables me to contribute my humanistic orientation, interests & broad knowledge in a practical and meaningful way. I consider it an honour to be a part of another person's process of self-understanding & healing, and witnessing them on their journey of more fully embodying their potential. I also know what it means to be a survivor, and this has fuelled my mission to support others in their healing process, and underpins my commitment to honour the individuality & agency of my clients. |
AS A COUNSELLORI am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist from Western Sydney University, where I was awarded the Dean’s Medal for the Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling program. I also hold a BA from University of Sydney, where I studied the humanities & social sciences.
I am registered with the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia PACFA (Reg. 29450), which is the peak regulatory body and maintains the highest standards for counsellors and psychotherapists in Australia. As such, I receive ongoing quality supervision and mentorship, and continued training with leading experts in the field. I have been involved in establishing a community clinic in Rozelle NSW, offering counselling services through a local NGO that offers welfare support to the community. I have worked with people from all walks of life, offering support in relation to life transitions, stagnations, awakenings, emotional hardship, grief & loss, loneliness, relationship issues, family issues, mental health, complex and childhood trauma. I recognise the importance of safe and affirming human connection to wellbeing, and the capacity of all people to move towards deeper self-understanding and fulfilment. I am interested to understand your unique human experience, and to work from a place of that understanding, offering a space and quality of listening that welcomes the wholeness of who you are. I aim to find the unique balance of creating ample space for your story and inner wisdom to unfold, while also drawing on external processes as needed to enrich the soil of your inner process, explore possibilities, and cultivate new ways of being. |
